I often receive DMs asking me to personalize an itinerary, for people whom I do not know, for their stay in Puerto Rico. “I don’t subscribe to your newsletter, but I’m in Puerto Rico for the next 3 days. What should I do?”

  1. A “hello, how are you?” and a “please and thank you,” would be nice.

  2. You should never send DMs like that. Not even to people you know.

I am not a travel agent, nor a travel writer. I just leave them on read because I personally feel like my newsletter is chock-full of this information already! Is it because I’ve been writing this newsletter for five years? Is it because the information doesn’t live in one place? I made a separate tab for all things Puerto Rico/an that lives on my homepage.

Now, I’m going to make a series of lists on where to get good versions of my favorite foods (arroz con jueyes) and the things tourists seek out (piña coladas).

Tourists returning from Puerto Rico often ask, “Where’s the seafood?” The answer to that is in my cookbook, which I’m trying to reach a goal of selling 4,500 copies so that I can max out my advance and finally start receiving royalties! 4,500 isn’t as far away as you think considering I’ve already sold 1,200 books between January and April of this year! Find out more on how to help me reach this goal by clicking this link, which will lead you to last week’s newsletter, which was free to all subscribers.

Local oysters in Puerto Rico

Consuming seafood in Puerto Rico might not look how you imagined. But, you will have a good time, a good meal and an ice cold beer (Puerto Rico has the iciest and coldest beer IYKYK) in your hands. Pluralization intended.

Here’s five places where you can consume char-grilled spiny lobster, salmorejo, arroz con jueyes, whole fried red snapper, local oysters and more.
