It’s wildflower season here in Northern California! And because we had a generous amount of rain, the flowers are actually in abundance. I wouldn’t say it’s “superbloom” levels here. But, it’s enough to make you gasp. And Mami and I have done some gasping.
I sent out a survey last week and a lot of you actually filled it out! Yay! It was anonymous, so I couldn’t see who made the suggestions and comments, but there was some great feedback in there. I thought I was going to be sad or angry after reading all of the survey suggestions, but it actually sent a bolt of adrenaline through me.
The first piece of feedback I got from the survey was: y’all really like my California-Core content! This makes me so happy because driving through the backroads and consuming the technicolor of California makes me so happy.
Mami and I have our little hidden spots where we can visit the California Poppies (our official state flower). Well, that’s not entirely true. One is hidden as it’s on a semi-private road in the foothills. Every year we visit and have the road to ourselves. We park at the bottom of the road, walk up the incline, all the while taking photos and video of the poppies. We watch the tall flowers sway in the breeze and listen to the birds sing. For those of us who live in the city, it’s one of those rare moments of absolute quiet and solitude. When we get to the top of the hill, we turn around and walk alongside the other side of the road. No one comes around the fuck with us.
